We want you to join our staff, share the love of Christ with our participants, have memorable experiences with them, and spend the summer in an amazing place! AEI Base Camp offers you a unique opportunity to work and live in Christian community, sharing and learning with others while investing in others amidst one of the most majestic places in the country. You will have the unique opportunity to teach and lead people through a variety of wilderness experiences. You will probably learn a great deal yourself, providing you put forth a great effort. Every staff position at AEI Base Camp has a responsibility to lead in a safe and competent manner in order to build trust and earn respect of our guests. When we build trust and earn respect, we open doors to engage in healthy spiritual dialogue. Our goal as a community and individuals is to impart, not only incredible wilderness experiences, but also deep spiritual awakening and renewal.
Each summer season requires a staff of about thirty people to serve the guests at AEI Base Camp. As an inter-denominational Christian ministry, Base Camp has many various positions available that might suit your particular gifts and talents. Positions are seasonal from late May through the middle of August and in some cases, through end of October. We are thankful for the staff that served with us in years past; many of them continue to return each summer. However, each year, openings tend to become available in each of the following areas:

Wilderness Guide Staff: All Experience Levels
These individuals conduct wilderness experiences that are safe, enjoyable, challenging and worthwhile for a variety of different groups. They are also responsible for maintaining and improving the grounds, facility, and equipment. Guides need to have a broad range of knowledge concerning the outdoors as well as strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
All new staff will be required to have Wilderness First Aid and CPR certifications, an Adventure Experiences Challenge Course certification (provided), and be in excellent physical condition.
Responsibilities include: planning, teaching, leading, and processing the group’s activities, as well as, assisting other guides in all areas. Minimum age is 18. Benefits include food, lodging, Colorado Compensation Insurance and a weekly salary.

Camp Assistant/Hospitality Staff
Feel like you are not qualified to be a Wilderness Guide Staff this summer, but want to be part of the summer staff? Camp Assistant/Hospitality Staff might be a good way to gain some wilderness experience and be a part of amazing Christ-centered community. In this position, you will be able to serve in the kitchen as food prep assistant, clean our rental cabins, belay at the rock site, help on the challenge course (certification provided), and assist full-time staff in other areas around camp. Minimum age is 18. Must have First Aid/CPR certification. Benefits include food, lodging, Colorado Compensation Insurance and a weekly salary.

Food Service Staff
The Food Service Manager will plan menus, order ingredients and prepare meals, as well as, oversee and direct the duties of the kitchen staff. Minimum age is 19. Benefits include food, lodging and Colorado Compensation Insurance. Wage based on experience.
The Food Service Assistants will assist the Food Service Manager with meal preparation and kitchen cleanup. Minimum age is 18. Benefits include food, lodging and Colorado Compensation Insurance. Wage based on experience.

Trailblazers:
These individuals are God-fearing, motivated, dependable, hard working, servant like, disciplined people who spend their summer growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ while serving in a Christian camp community and developing personal interests and skills.
Trailblazers volunteer to work and serve for a 4-6 week term. Work crew members will serve mostly as kitchen assistants and help out in other parts of camp as well.
Benefits to Trailblazer participants include:
- Participate in a discipleship program with a strong Christian mentor, Bible study, daily prayer group, and encouragement as we walk together with Christ.
- Experience servant leadership by providing a valuable service to the AE base camp through your work.
- Participate in various adventure activities including challenge course, rock climbing, orienteering, fly-fishing, whitewater rafting and backpacking.
- Live and work in a rustic, Christian community in the incredible setting of the Colorado Rockies.
- Develop outdoor adventure recreation skills through practical experiences while shadowing wilderness guides throughout the term.
- Room and Board, as well as Colorado compensation Insurance, are provided.
- Minimum age: 16

College Interns
AEI Base Camp welcomes the applications of College Interns. There are usually one or two interns on staff each summer season. Interns have traditionally filled the role of guide staff as they endeavor to gain Adventure Programming field experience. Food, lodging, Colorado Compensation Insurance, and pay, the equivalent of entry-level guide staff, will be provided. The administration at AEI would be happy to work with students, and their respective schools, in the development of excellent outdoor leaders.

Facilities and Maintenance Staff
Are you skilled in the area of facility and vehicle maintenance? Each summer, we have a Facilities Lead that heads up our facilities maintenance staff. Our facility, which includes 16 buildings and our grounds, which includes 1,500 acres needs constant upkeep and maintenance. Therefore, our facility staff is very vital to our operation and ministry. There are usually one or two maintenance personnel on staff each summer season. Faculty and maintenance staff are also responsible for upkeep of mechanical equipment and vehicles. Food, lodging, Colorado Compensation Insurance, and a weekly salary, commensurate with experience, will be provided.
